Scuol sits in the Lower Engadine, reached by train from Zurich in two and a half hours via Landquart and the Vereina Tunnel. The town is built around natural mineral springs, Romansh heritage, and heavy stone houses detailed with centuries-old sgraffito plasterwork. Thermal bathers and mountain walkers have shared these cobblestones since the nineteenth century. Scuol is worth visiting if you want mineral spa bathing combined with high-valley walking and authentic Romansh food.

What to do in Scuol Graubünden Switzerland

The town splits into two distinct levels: Scuol Sura along the higher main street of Stradun, and Scuol Sot clustered around quiet squares below. Days naturally divide between mountain air and thermal recovery. You hike the high trails above Motta Naluns in the morning, stop for a plate of barley soup, and spend late afternoon soaking in mineral water. It suits independent walkers who appreciate quiet evenings.
