Chacala sits ninety minutes north of Puerto Vallarta airport along Highway 200, reached via a winding secondary road through mango orchards. It is known for its sheltered horseshoe cove and open-air beachfront palapas grilling whole snapper over mangrove wood. Chacala is worth visiting if you want calm ocean swimming, fresh pescado zarandeado at plastic tables, and slow coastal mornings. Look elsewhere if you want resort nightlife, paved beachfront promenades, ATMs on every corner, or high-end shopping.

What to do in Chacala Nayarit Mexico

Life in Chacala centres strictly on the half-mile crescent of sand and the quiet dirt lanes behind it. Mornings begin with village roasters and soft waves; afternoons belong to lazy lunches under thatched palapas, eating ceviche and grilled snappers. It suits travellers looking for unhurried days, gentle swimming, and simple coastal rhythms rather than scheduled sightseeing.
