Èze sits 12 kilometres east of Nice, reachable in thirty minutes by bus 82 along the Moyenne Corniche. The medieval village is famous for its car-free stone alleys, ruined twelfth-century fortress, and succulent garden perched 429 metres above the Mediterranean. Èze is worth visiting if you want quiet medieval stone alleys at dusk, clifftop botanical views, and steep coastal hiking. Look elsewhere if you want flat walking, sandy beaches at your doorstep, or vibrant late-night drinking.

What to do in Èze Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur France

The village clings to a sheer limestone spur high above the sea, built tightly in concentric stone rings beneath ruined castle walls. Days here run at a pedestrian pace: climbing cobblestone stairs, tracing ancient stonework along Rue du Barri, and sitting over espresso or a glass of chilled rosé. Èze suits independent travellers who value quiet architectural detail, dramatic geography, and hillside footpaths over beach resort crowds.
